To Wrap up the end of the year we wanted to go BIG and host our event at
Daimler HQ in Swan Island. The theme of the event is Blazing the Trail to Success, and both our panelists will share powerful stories that shaped them to be influential leaders. Tracy Mack-Askew of DTNA and Libra Forde of SEI, although in very different industries share the drive and passion to lead.

About our guests:
Tracy Mack-Askew has made a name for herself at Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA), a $15B heavy duty, class 6-8 OEM truck and tractor manufacturer. She was first hired as the Vice President of
Engineering of the Thomas Built Buses (TBB) OEM subsidiary of DTNA where she established the strategic mission, vision, and engineering culture of the organization. Under her leadership, she introduced a suite of safety technologies into the TBB product that became a significant enabler in driving increased sales for the business. Her success in this role led to her becoming Managing Director of HD Vocational Platform Development, where she oversees and promotes excellence across the full vocational segment.
Libra is currently the Chief Operating Officer for Self Enhancement Inc., the second largest minority agency in Oregon. SEI provides culturally specific services for underrepresented youth and families in the Portland metro area. Libra’s education leadership experience spans over 18 years to include leading the grassroots movement in 2007 for the first hybrid k-12 charter school in Hawaii which is now the largest charter in Hawaii. As a former pro athlete and business owner, Libra champions elite personal behavior. She uses her education and experiences to cultivate effective goal setting that is manageable and sustainable.
For our fourth installment of Simple X Mixer, our guests, Chief Danielle Outlaw , Chief Sara Boone , Deputy Chief Jamal Fox, and Chief Serilda Summers-McGee shared their wisdom on navigating the workplace. These individuals have made incredible strides in their careers and have unique origin stories. Over 200 attendees enjoyed a night with city leaders and had the opportunity to network with other business professionals and entrepreneurs.
About our guest speakers:
Chief Danielle Outlaw was sworn in as Chief of Police for the Portland Police Bureau on October 2, 2017. She began her career with the Oakland Police Department as an Oakland Police Explorer. As she rose through the ranks to Deputy Chief, she worked in various assignments throughout the Oakland Police Department, including Patrol, Community Services, the Office of Chief of Police, the Criminal Investigation Division, Internal Affairs and the Office of Inspector General
Chief Boone’s career with PF&R began in 1995. She became a lieutenant in 2002, after placing first on the promotional list and then became a Captain in 2006 assigned at several Stations plus Training Academy and BHQ. In 2014, Boone promoted to Battalion Chief, served as Safety Chief, appointed Deputy Chief of Logistics and currently the Division Chief of Medical Services and Training.
Fox comes with a background in local government, most recently serving as the Property & Business Development Manager for Portland Parks & Recreation.Fox was elected to the Greensboro City Council in North Carolina representing District 2, at the age of 25. He was later re-elected, serving until 2017 before moving to Portland to be with his family. Prior to being elected Greensboro City Council, Fox worked for the City of Greensboro in the City Manager’s Office and the Department of Planning and Community Development. Serilda has been the Chief Human Resources Officer since December 2017. She has more than 15 years of progressive experience in human capital management with expertise in a broad range of HR disciplines. Her career started in higher education, holding positions in admissions, financial aid and serving as the Assistant Dean of residence life at Reed College from 2006 – 2010. Serilda then became the executive director at Partners in Diversity in 2011, an affiliate of the Portland Business Alliance. Working with HR departments in companies throughout the Portland region on strategies to recruit and retain executives of color.
Kary Youman was just 12 years old when he learned that the man he called his father was not his biological father. Fast forward to age 37, Kary found out that his biological father is Robert Palmer, a Grammy nominated song writer. On June 7th, Robert flew in from Arizona to meet with Kary for the first time. “The only thing that came to mind was gratitude,” says Youman.
On June 21, Kary shared his inspiring story about humanity, healing, and bouncing back when life knocks you down.
Stephen Green, is a recovering banker and venture capitalist. Stephen was born to live in Portland, as he came into this world an hour after the Portland Trailblazers won their first and only NBA championship. He has worked tirelessly to support, connect and grow under-represented founders on the west coast for almost two decades.
Stephen spends his time helping area startups with access to capital. He serves on a number of boards including the Oregon Growth Board, Black Investment Corporation for Economic Progress (BICEP), Built Oregon, Oregon Public House (cause using a brewery for good is so Portland) and the Governor’s Small Business Advisory Cabinet.
Spreadsheets are his super power and sneakers are his kryptonite.
David Jackson, aka O.G.ONE is one of the industries most respected djs. With over 20+ years of experience, O.G.ONE is considered a legendary dj in Portland, and his resume speaks for itself. Mr. Jackson shared his life story of how he battled cancer and still managed to thrive as a family man and entrepreneur. O.G. ONE talked about “The True Value in Networking with Purpose.”
O.G.ONE’s ability to connect with people through his musical skills on the 1’s & 2’s, has put him on stages, iconic events and parties, with the likes of Michael Jordan, Damian Lillard, NBA All-Star Weekend, Super Bowl, Jay Z, Mike Phillips, and too many more that could be listed from A-List celebrities, commercial radio, to national television appearances.
O.G.ONE is currently the official dj for the NBA’s Portland Trailblazers, and host of two weekly radio shows “Groove Theory Mixshow” “In These Streetz” on XRAY FM 107.1FM / 91.1 FM. He also is co-founder of Portland’s official Hip Hop Day.
